Full-Day Summer Camp
Ages 5-11 – Morning sessions include a choice of languages/art/STEM, followed by an afternoon of multi-sports activities. Students can make the most of their summer vacation by improving their language skills while enjoying physical activities!

Overview

A new approach to language learning and presentation. Mandarin Drama creates an immersive Mandarin learning environment through the dynamic world of drama! Using games, storytelling and performance, this Mandarin-based drama class gives students the opportunity to build confidence and fluency in Mandarin in a fun, alternative medium. Students will engage in role-play, character-play and group performance leading up to an end of term open class.
Upon completing the course, students will receive:
A certificate
An Open Day session, during which parents are invited to join the last 30 minutes of the class at the end of the term

Students engage in a dynamic classroom setting that fosters enthusiasm for learning Mandarin. By incorporating games, improvisation, and interactive activities, students develop a positive attitude towards language acquisition, which enhances retention and motivation

Through role-playing and character development, students practice Mandarin in realistic contexts. This hands-on approach encourages them to use the language creatively, improving their conversational skills and understanding of cultural nuances. Performances allow students to showcase their language proficiency in front of peers, reinforcing their learning

Students are immersed in the Mandarin language through various theatrical techniques, leading to enhanced comprehension and vocabulary acquisition. This immersive experience helps students think and respond in Mandarin spontaneously, thus improving fluency and ease of communication

The supportive environment of the drama class allows students to take risks and make mistakes in a safe space. As they perform and engage in activities, they build self-esteem and confidence in their language abilities, which can lead to greater willingness to participate in conversations outside the classroom

Students learn to articulate their thoughts clearly and effectively in Mandarin through structured presentations and performances. This not only improves their verbal skills but also enhances their ability to organise ideas and present them compellingly, essential skills for academic and professional success
