Dear Parents & Guardians,
Welcome to the HK Hurricanes Swim Programme.
Thank you for joining the HK Hurricanes swimming programme. We strongly recommend that you refer to your registration summary for the start date, end date and exceptional dates of your specific venue. We would like to draw your attention to some important points which we hope will help you with the organization of your child’s swimming sessions.
Important points to note:
1) Students should have temperature check before attending school. Please print and record your temperature on this temperature record sheet.
2) Have the child wear the swimmers coming into the facility. We strongly recommend not to use the toilet/changing room unless really necessary. After the lessons, dry the child’s swimmers with a towel and have them wear it going back home. Changing rooms are open. Shower facilities however are suspended.
3) Arrive as close as possible to when the activity begins. Leave enough time for the safety protocol checks (temperature and recording).
4) Face masks must be worn on school premises (unless in the water). Please take at least 2 spare masks with you.
5) No spectators are allowed to stay in the poolside areas. The procedure is to drop your child by the pool entrance (staff will assist with your child) and wait in room 807 (a level below the swimming pool).
First Day of Class
-
Please change your child in the changing rooms on 9/F.
-
Please ensure you arrive at least 10 minutes before the start of the lesson.
-
The pool temperature should be a constant 29.5 (this may, however, differ due to extenuating circumstances) and an indoor venue, therefore swimmers do not need to wear wetsuits, body jackets, T-shirts or rash vests. Additional clothing will only hinder a swimmer’s progress.
-
It is very difficult for our swimming Coaches to speak with parents regarding their child’s progress at the pool. Please contact the office in the first instance and we will communicate with the Coach to contact you.
Health and Safety
-
Students are not allowed to swim in the wading pool or the main pool before and after their lessons.
-
Parents are respectfully reminded to change their children in the changing. Children over 6 years of age or over 1.15m tall are not permitted in the opposite sex changing rooms.
-
Storage of baggage / buggies in front of the lessons areas are not permitted.
-
No outdoor shoes allowed on the poolside. Please leave your outdoor shoes in the designated area prior to walking through the footbath and entering the pool deck. If necessary, please bring along another pair of clean slippers, scrub the bases against a mat provided inside the changing room and spray thoroughly with water to remove any dirt.
-
No eating or drinking (except water) in the pool areas.
-
Please take your child to the designated pick-up point and the coach will take a register of attendance.
-
In the interests of Child Safety, please do not take photographs at the pool without permission. Please see here for our policy.
Placement & Progression
-
At each level within the swimming programme there are specific outcomes the swimmer needs to achieve before progressing to the next level. Your child’s coach will assess each student fairly. If a child progresses without achieving all the outcomes they may find the next level too challenging and become de-motivated.
-
Towards the end of each term the students will be assessed and parents will receive either a certificate of achievement or a Report on their current progress.
-
Parents will receive a letter offering a place in the appropriate level for your child in the next term’s programme.
Absence
-
If your child cannot attend the lessons for any reason, please contact us in advance at aishkswimming@esf.org.hk or 2711 1280 so we can inform your child’s Coach.
