Dear Parents & Guardians,
Thank you for joining our ESF Sharks Swimming Clinic, hosted by ESF Explore.
We strongly recommend that you refer to Active or your registration summary for the start date, end date and exception/exclusion dates of your specific venue. A copy of the calendar can be found here.
We look forward to welcoming your child and would like to bring to your attention some important points, which we hope will help you with the organisation of your child’s swimming sessions.
General
- Your child will recognise our coaching staff as they will be wearing our burgundy or white coaching uniforms.
- Our coach will be welcoming and registering your child at the designated pick-up point, and will answer any questions you may have in the beginning or end of the session.
- Young children concentrate better on their learning experience when there are few distractions; therefore, parents are advised to sit away from their child’s class
- You can locate your child’s class from the list of classes on the swimming noticeboard, indicating the time, the level, the coach and the location in the pool.
- The pool temperature is around 29℃ and an indoor venue, therefore swimmers do not need to wear wetsuits, body jackets, T-shirts or rash vests. Additional clothing will only hinder a swimmer’s progress.
Placement & Progression
- At each level within the swimming programme, there are specific outcomes the swimmer needs to achieve before progressing to the next level. Your child’s coach will assess each student fairly. If a child progresses without achieving all the outcomes they may find the next level too challenging and become de-motivated.
- Like most sports, the swimming lessons may sometimes seem very repetitive but children will learn that improvement and excellence comes from repetition, so we ask for your patience as every child develops at a different pace.
Health and Safety
- Parents are respectfully reminded to change their children in the changing. Children over 6 years of age or over 1.15m tall are not permitted in the opposite-sex changing rooms.
- Make sure that your child has a water bottle but we would not recommend eating a snack during the class as this raises potential Health & Safety issues, like choking.
- In the interests of Child Safety, please do not take photographs at the pool without permission. ESF’s policy on photography is located here.
Contacting Your Coach
- It is very difficult for our swimming Coaches to speak to parents regarding their child’s progress at the pool. Please contact us at info@esfexplore.org.hk or 2711 1280 and we will communicate with the Coach and arrange for them to contact you.
Absence
- If your child cannot attend the lessons for any reason, please contact us in advance at swimming@esf.org.hk or 2711 1280 so we can inform your child’s Coach.

- In the event of an unsafe environment caused by inclement weather, sessions will be cancelled and no make-up, refund or credit will be issued.
