Overview

ESF Kindergarten Phonics programme is suitable for a diverse group of students aged between 3 to 6 years old.

Phonics is suitable for kindergarten students who have a basic understanding of letter sounds. This programme provides an interactive learning approach to reading and writing through a variety of games and activities. In addition to games, students will learn high-frequency words and correct pronunciation of sounds. Handwriting is also an important component of each lesson, so there is plenty of opportunity to practise both lower and upper case letters.

Two levels of curriculum for kindergarten. Students will be assessed accordingly in the first lesson for their abilities and levelling.
Upon completing the course, students will receive:

Sounding Out (Decoding): Blend individual letter sounds together to read simple words (like c-a-t or h-o-p)

Word Building (Spelling): Break a spoken word down into its starting, middle, and ending sounds to spell it out during fun games

Early Writing: Use creative, sensory-rich ways to help children form letters and short words using different mediums

First Steps Reading: Progress from reading single words to confidently reading simple, phonically-controlled sentences and short, predictable early readers
