Overview

Ready, Set, Primary! Primary Ready is for K3/Year 1 students. The theme-based lessons develop reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills by bringing stories alive to unleash creativity and imagination.

Students will build their vocabulary and practise simple sentence structures through creative arts activities and role play, while integrated phonics will develop their early reading and writing skills. A typical lesson will include structured play, circle time, story, songs, and art to provide numerous ways for students to develop their language skills and confidence.

Brainstorm, ask "why" and "how," and express opinions on stories and simple science/environmental topics

Move past basic answers to use descriptive language and complex sentences to explain thoughts

Sequence thoughts logically with a clear beginning, middle, and end during presentations and show-and-tell

Shift from phonetic drills to meaningful writing, turning spoken ideas into independent sentences

Blend letter sounds to decode three-letter words (CVC words) and recognise common sight words
