Thank you for joining our ESF Tigers Basketball Programme. A copy of the 2024-25 calendar can be found here.
We strongly recommend that you refer to your registration summary for important information (course name, location, dates, etc.) of your enrolment and also read through the letter below for programme-related information.
General
- Your child will recognise our coaching staff as they will be wearing our burgundy or white coaching uniforms. All our lead coaches are Basketball England-qualified, First Aid-trained and have a passion for the sport!
- At the start of each class, the coach will welcome the class briefly; take the attendance roll and highlight the main goals for the session.
- Young children concentrate better on their learning experience when there are few distractions; therefore, parents are advised to sit away from their child’s class
- Make sure that your child has a water bottle but we would not recommend eating a snack during the class as this raises potential Health & Safety issues, like choking.
ESF Tiger Uniform (Basketball)
The uniform policy was introduced in 2023 and now takes effect from Term 2 24-25 (Jan – Mar 2025).
Students must purchase a set of ESF Tigers uniforms (BB1 – BB6; Learn to Play levels) at a discounted price when they sign up for a Term 2 class. Uniform orders are accepted in two batches.
Batch 1: For enrolments received on or before 12 January, provided the register class runs as scheduled and is not postponed. Uniforms will be distributed starting on 4 February (Tuesday).
Batch 2: For enrolments received between 13 January to 9 February for any ongoing T2 classes. Uniforms will be distributed starting on 24 February (Monday).
Regular purchase: For enrolment received on or after 10 February. Uniforms can be purchased at regular prices through the School Uniform’s Website.
The ESF Tigers uniforms are designed for physical activity, allowing coaches and ESF schools to easily identify ESF Explore students and provide assistance when necessary. Students are encouraged to wear the uniform to class every time.
The ESF Tigers uniforms do not apply to the Academy levels. You will be contacted by the Programme Manager for more information on the team uniform after the course commences.

***Important points to note***
Postponed classes: If a registered class is postponed due to low enrolment, the associated uniform order will move to Batch 2.
Class switching: If a switch is made after the order cut-off dates (12 January for Batch 1 and 9 February for Batch 2), the uniform order cannot be amended. The uniform associated with the original enrolment can only be obtained from the originally registered class.
Equipment
Make sure that your child brings a basketball to each of the sessions. Size 3 and size 5 are available to purchase during enrolment on our website if needed. An email can be sent to info@esfexplore.org.hk if you wish to purchase after enrolment. ESF Explore reserves the right to cancel any basketball orders that are made at short notice.

What to expect…
- Our classes follow modern basketball coaching principles and will include an initial session on SAQ (Speed, Agility & Quickness) drills; our emphasis will be on learning through fun.
- Basketball may sometimes seem very repetitive but children will learn that improvement and excellence comes from repetition, so we ask for your patience as every child develops at a different pace.
- There is an opportunity to join the ESF Tigers Elite Academy for those who find a true passion in basketball. Details can be obtained from our coaching team (info@esfexplore.org.hk) by emailing your interest.
