Planet Guardian Adventures
Upper Kindergarten: 4-5 years (Suitable for students who are studying K2)
Primary: 6-8 years
Join our Planet Guardian Adventures for four weeks of exciting quests, meeting different people in different places each time. This course uses drama, games, story books, art to develop reading, writing, speaking and listening skills whilst broadening knowledge and experiences. With four weeks of programmes to choose from, students will embark on an exciting new adventure each week to meet a range of colourful characters such as....
Animal Antics - beware of the wild animals we’ll meet this week and avoid their bite, snap or sting;
Super Heroes - create your own superhero to join the team of Planet Guardians; use your new powers to save the world.
Fantasy Explorers - brave fire breathing dragons to rescue the princess from the tower; become a herald, watchman, knight, or jester and learn about medieval life.
Treasure Seekers - embark on a nautical adventure meeting fishermen and mermaids; discover pirate treasure along the way but be careful not to walk the plank.
Join all four weeks!

Kindergarten Preparation
This course is for students who will be starting K1 after the summer. Students will develop their independence and confidence in an ESF kindergarten environment, as they explore nursery rhymes and well-loved stories through a variety of hands-on learning experiences.
This camp is different every week, so students can join for up to 4 weeks!

Summer Phonics Course - Kindergarten
This course is a great introduction to phonics but can also build on your child’s existing phonic knowledge. It is delivered in a very fun way with lots of group work and movement.
During the programme, students will learn:
● The basic letter sounds
● The principles of decoding words
● To play games in order to hear different sounds, using vowels and consonants
● To build longer phonic words
● To blend and segment the sounds and use words
● To begin the structure of writing lower and upper case sounds
One lesson per week x 4 weeks every Wednesday (option to do 2 months consecutively)

Join us for an enchanting journey in our Imagination Station programme, where creativity meets sustainability! Children will explore their imagination, transforming everyday materials into magical creations that spark joy and innovation. As they document their creative processes, they'll develop essential writing skills and construct their masterpieces using recycled materials. Harmony Heroes
Harmony Heroes focuses on the socio-emotional development of young learners, which can be tricky to navigate as feelings and emotions get bigger and bigger. Developing these skills is crucial for children as it helps with their relationship building, emotional regulation, empathy and understanding, conflict resolution, self-confidence, academic success and wellbeing.
How does it work?
Harmony Heroes is an exciting and interactive programme that seamlessly integrates Lego, games, puzzles, storytelling, and role play to hone the emotional and social development of children. For example:
● Using Lego, children embark on imaginative building adventures that encourage self-expression and creativity
● Engaging games and puzzles promote problem-solving skills, critical thinking, and collaboration among the class
● Through captivating storytelling, children are immersed in narrative-driven experiences that cultivate empathy and inspire them to explore diverse perspectives
● Role play activities provide a platform for children to practice communication, cooperation, and conflict resolution skills in a safe and supportive environment
● Harmony Heroes fosters harmonious relationships and nurtures children’s emotional well-being through the power of play.
Socio-emotional skills are vital for children's overall development, helping them navigate life’s challenges both now and in the future.
This is a one week course.

Primary Preparation
This course is for kindergarten graduates who will be starting P1 after the summer. It provides a boost of skills, confidence and independence through lots of fun games, drama and activities in an ESF primary school setting.
Over the course of two weeks, students will practise a range of essential skills which will provide an important foundation to ease their transition into primary school. This includes development of their understanding of the following: up to 100 high frequency words; capital letters and simple punctuation; basic sentence structure; speaking clearly during presentations; vocabulary development through a range of medium including art projects.
**The course materials are on a 2 week rotation, meaning Weeks 2-3 are different and Weeks 4-5 start the rotation again.
**Students can enrol for 1 or 2 weeks of classes but 2 weeks is recommended.

First Steps in English
Upper Primary (9-11 years old),
Secondary (12 years+)
This course focuses on the basic fundamentals of the English language. The lessons will provide a firm foundation for understanding and being able to apply basic grammar rules which are essential for communicating effectively.
Students will work on sentence structure and grammar to improve communication skills through a range of engaging writing and speaking activities.
Everyday English for different life scenarios, in both formal and informal settings, will also be covered. This includes essential English for overseas travel and basic email English.
*Please note that First Steps in English courses are only for beginners or those at a very basic level of English. If your child has a good grasp of English, please choose a different course from the range on offer from ESF Explore

Primary Reader's Theatre
Reader’s Theatre is a technique to develop reading with understanding and fluency. Using a variety of scripts to practise and apply new techniques, students will:
● Become immersed in Reader’s Theatre to bring scripts to life as they work together to read and act out stories and their own writing
● Practise phonics, pronunciation and intonation through character portrayal and presentations
● Build vocabulary and creativity through their own script writing
● Be immersed in a rich, English speaking environment to build their understanding, confidence and enjoyment of the language.
This course is a great opportunity for your child to develop their English language proficiency. The carefully selected scripts give students essential practice in oral reading fluency and public speaking. The scripts also provide an opportunity for group interaction and student cooperation.

Primary Writing
Creative Writing Week: Creative juices will be flowing as students bring their ideas to life. Our budding writers will then present their work at the end of the week. Throughout the sessions, students will learn a range of techniques, vocabulary and grammar as they unleash their imagination.

Upper Primary Debate -Debate & Dialogue
Debates are fun and engaging activities that exercise the brain to use all four skills of reading, writing, listening and speaking, sometimes concurrently.
In this course, students will:
● Understand how debating works, what the rules are and how to debate effectively
● Use formal language, persuasive techniques and connectives in a speech
● Structure ideas on a given topic, using evidence and examples to enhance arguments
● Develop critical thinking, collaboration and communication skills
● Learn to express themselves confidently, coherently and assertively
This course is suitable for students who are new to debating and those who have already developed a taste for debating in their primary schools. It can also prepare them for a variety of opportunities that they will come across in their secondary schools.

Secondary Debate
Join us for some lively discussions this Summer in our Secondary Debate programme. Globally, elections have evolved and politicians have changed their communication tactics. What styles would students take to convey their opinions?
Throughout the sessions, students will have plenty of opportunities to discuss and debate a range of topics.
In Secondary Debate students will:
● Analyse language and body language from real debates such as the presidential debates
● Construct arguments using persuasive language and engaging sentence openers
● Learn about tone of voice and vocal delivery during a debate
● Enhance speaking confidence
● Practise rebuttals
● Learn how to research for a debate in an effective manner
● Practise taking notes during a debate to form the basis of another argument

Career Ready
This course will offer vital real life skills for students which will prepare them for their eventual university and work careers. Students will learn how to draft their own detail-oriented resumes as well as how to prepare for oral interviews so they are prepared and filled with confidence as they take the next steps in life.
Students will:
● Draft and refine a foundational resume which can be used for potential university or job applications
● Carry out personality and character assessments which assist students find their true core strengths and social and academic areas to develop
● Practice spoken oral skills in mock Interviews as preparation for future opportunities

Media, News and Me
This course will teach students how to identify bias in various media outlets, fostering critical thinking skills essential for discerning fact from opinion. They’ll also learn the art of writing compelling headlines and engaging discussions, enhancing your ability to communicate effectively and thoughtfully about current events and articles.
The Basics of Media: Explore what constitutes the media aside from the traditional forms like newspapers and television. Currently, media has expanded into online streaming, podcasts, etc. When Elon Musk proclaimed 'You Are the Media' - What did he mean?
Media Bias: Learn that the majority of news has an agenda. Uncover what media bias is and how to spot it and how to understand their own bias and apply them to media examples.
Media Narrative: Everyone sees the world around them with their own unique perspective. This sense concept alludes to the media industry and this often facilitates certain events to be told from different perspectives, hence narratives.
How to Regulate Social Media: Discuss the positives and negatives of social media and how to regulate use so as to utilize it in a safe way.
What Makes a Good Headline: Develop journalism techniques that can draw in and attract readers. What makes a good headline - Does negative news really 'sell' better thus providing the famed phrase - If it bleeds ...it leads.'
Media Discernment + Fake News: In a world of 24/7 news cycles, how can students critically analyze 'news' and gain understanding if the content is real or fake?
This is a one week course - students must be proficient in written and spoken English to join.

Spanish through Art and Culture
Spanish is a vibrant language with a fascinating culture. This summer, we are excited to offer our summer Spanish course, in which students are immersed in the Hispanic art and culture as they develop their reading, writing, speaking and listening skills. Each day, students will build their understanding of the language through a different component of the culture. From latino music to indigenous art, students will travel in time through all the richness of Hispanic music, customs, people and colours. An immersion into different activities and art projects that will enrich not only their communication skills but also their love for art and their knowledge of different art techniques.
**The course materials are on a 2 week rotation, meaning Weeks 1-2 are different and then repeated later in camp.
**Students can enrol for 1 or 2 weeks of classes but 2 weeks is recommended.

*NEW* Spanish Odyssey
Spanish Odyssey takes students on an experiential journey through the rich tapestry of Spanish language and culture, centering around exciting themes such as food and music. As students explore Spain and Latin America, they will engage in immersive, hands-on activities that teach real, colloquial language that their Spanish speaking peers will be using everyday. By cooking traditional dishes, listening and interpreting regional music and exploring local cultural and sporting events, students will practice their language skills in meaningful contexts. We will even complete the programme with a Spanish fiesta on the last day!
This is a one week programme. Students must have completed a Spanish programme at ESF Explore before enrolling in this programme (including Spanish Art). Students need basic Spanish to join.

Summertime is the time to get out and get moving and with an ESF Sports Camp your child will do just that! Providing a safe and enjoyable environment for students, our enthusiastic approach combined with expert coaches with a passion for sport, enables every student to develop their skills and self-confidence in a range of activities, both as an individual and within a group or team dynamic.

3 - 10 years old will love our day camps that are split into separate age groups. All camps combine a range of age-appropriate activities that aim to develop a core range of skills such as very basic motor skills (running, jumping, turning, balance) through to more sophisticated game-related abilities (teamwork, speed & agility, etc.).
Your child’s enjoyment is at the heart of our sports camps. We deliver programmes that will provide your child with a socially positive experience, increasing their love of sport and improving their sporting skills all through the medium of fun and game-based development.
Wet camps (water activities included) are available at Renaissance College and South Island School, whereas Dry camps at Kowloon Junior School do not include any swimming session.

ESF Lions Football is running fantastic football camps during the summer holidays.

Basketball Clinics
ESF Tigers will be delivering basketball camps to improve players' individual technical skills and to enhance their knowledge of team play fundamentals.
The sessions will comprise mini-stations covering fundamentals such as passing, shooting and dribbling and will include small-sided games and competitions to test a player's skill level.

Swimming Clinics
ESF Sharks Swimming delivers swimming lessons during summer clinics. Our qualified coaches will help swimmers develop their comfort level in the water, improve stroke technique through fun games and activities in the water.

Tag Rugby Clinics is an active and fun game-based learning for boys and girls, open to children experienced and new to the game.

Primary Science - Everyday Science
Upper Primary (Ages 9-11 years old)
This summer, science students will explore the natural world and environment around them as well as undertake design, engineering and construction projects through the fascinating themes of Colour Lab and Engineers of the Future!
Highlights include structural engineering and design building challenges that will enable students to collaborate with others as they innovate and problem solve. They will also explore the world’s kaleidoscope of colours through a variety of interactive and hands-on experiments.
Each week, our scientists will gain an understanding of how the world works as we incorporate science and engineering elements of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics). They will also develop their understanding of the scientific method as they plan their investigations, record their observations and report on their findings.
Students can enrol for a total of two weeks of Science (Science A and Science B). We suggest:

Embark on an engaging, hands-on adventure where your children will learn the basics of coding through the power of icon blocks, interactive robots and Lego building.
mTiny allows the children to learn the basics of coding with icon blocks. Children will use a Tap Pen controller to learn about robotics and coding.
Spike combines creativity with coding. First, your child will construct amazing Lego creations and develop their fine motor skills at the same time. Then, using an iPad to code, they will bring these creations to life! Children will learn basic mechanic concepts through this Lego coding experience.

*New* Exploring Blockchain: Building a Simulated Wallet System
This course is for students who have an intermediate level of JavaScript programming and want to learn how blockchain systems work and why they are preferred to reduce online security risks. We will explore how blockchain technologies are changing the way we share information, make payments with crypto currencies and keep track of transactions via a digital ledger.
By the end of this course, students will build a simulated blockchain wallet system to store coins. This course emphasizes on both the front and back end of developing blockchain solutions.

Game Design - Minecraft Education
Combining imagination with builder tools in Minecraft Education Edition, students will hone their creativity while exploring fundamental block-based programming concepts.
In this camp, students will build amazing structures and contraptions, design, code and create their own unique mini-games, features & commands with absolute creative freedom.
In the course, students will:

- Master block-based programming to bring ideas to life in Minecraft Education Edition.

First Steps in Coding
Gain an understanding of HTML, CSS and JavaScript and get a solid head start in website development!
Using real-world technology, students will create websites and web-based applications. They will build their own coding posters, trivia games and personalized websites.

Remake Classic Games with Scratch
Get a great introduction to programming with the new and improved version of Scratch.
Students will learn the basics of game design and character animation in a well-structured and easy-to-learn environment as they reimagine classic arcade games, such as Tetris and Flappy Bird. What’s more, they will learn to make art with code using the new code blocks in Scratch.
*No previous experience is required for this course.

Code Creator: Design and Play Your Own Arcade Games
Students will create their own unique arcade-style video games using Makecode Arcade, which they can play and share with their peers and family. They will gain valuable skills in computer science and creative problem-solving through designing their arcade games.
Makecode Arcade is a beginner-friendly game development platform that uses block-based coding to allow kids to create their own video games and develop understanding in game development principles and logical reasoning.

Robotics - Codey Rocky
Codey Rocky, your child’s new coding companion designed for STEM education! From grabbing real-time weather data from all over the world to exploring voice recognition and game design, Codey Rocky gives your child their first taste of Artificial Intelligence and Internet of Things (IoT). It combines easy-to-use hardware with block-based programming - complete with sensors to collect data & built-in WiFi that lets student’s create simple data-driven projects and games with artificial intelligence extensions.

Create Your Own Digital Pet
Through Digital Pet, students will learn to program and visualise the cause and effects of the needs of their chosen animal.
Students will learn how to visualise this through inner.HTML, and to reflect the interactivity through JavaScript functions by using arithmetic operators. Students will be challenged to conduct extensive research on the needs and requirements of the chosen animal and incorporate their findings into their Digital Pet projects.

First Steps in Python
In this introductory course for beginners, students will learn the basics of coding in Python. The course will focus on learning Python syntax, structure and parameters and then use the knowledge and skills to build two projects
Using the BSD Online learning platform, students will be guided through learning about Python basics like, variables, data types, conditional logic, math operators and loops. The first part of the course is designed to be self-guided with activities and practice with syntax and using the console. Then students will build a birth-date-to-now calculator and an encoder/decoder.
They will end the course with a tech portfolio of the projects they’ve created throughout the course, and will be able to use their new skills to move onto more complex projects in the future.

3D Game Design and Development with Roblox
Students will use the world-famous gaming platform, Roblox Studio, to design and develop their own games. They will use programming logic like function, loops, and conditions to customize and develop an engaging story that captures the player’s interest, and design heroes that take on the interactive world.
Students will work on their game design skills and learn to think creatively about designing worlds, creating themes and setting objectives and goals, mimicking how professional developers.

Game Development 101: Start Your Tech Journey as a Game Developer!
This course is the perfect introductory experience for learning digital skills in the world of gaming and programming.
Students will learn how to plan, design and develop their very first web based game using HTML, CSS and JavaScript. They will pick up valuable skills along the way such as planning, designing game assets and creating digital special effects.

Mobile Game Developer
In this intermediate course, students will learn to use HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to build games that can be played on both desktop and mobile devices.
This course is designed for students who have had prior experience with HTML, CSS, andJavaScript. Using the BSD Online learning platform, students will build a total of five different games — a platformer, a trac game, a nonogram puzzle game, a battle game, and a jumping game.
Students will develop fundamental skills in programming, learn about game development and design, and explore how to add further customizations to their projects.They will end the course with a tech portfolio of the projects they’ve created, and will be able to use their new skills to move onto more complex projects in the future.

Pygame Platformer Mastery: Create Your Own 2D Games
In this comprehensive course, we will explore the exciting world of 2D platformer game development using Pygame. From setting up the development environment to implementing gameplay mechanics, animations, and level design, you will learn the essential skills required to build your own engaging platformer game.
By the end of the course, you will have a complete, playable 2D platformer game that you can showcase to others.

Code Your Own World with VR
From forests to Mars, students will bring their imaginations to life by coding their own virtual reality world.
Developed with HTML, JavaScript, and A-Frame, they will code and add their own customized textures, elements and interactions to complete their realistic simulated 3D environments.
Students will also be able to easily share their work with friends and families, as well as immerse themselves into their creations.

Code the Future with Artificial Intelligence
From self-driving cars to entertainment recommendations, AI is a part of our future. There is no better time to start learning how AI works.
Students will use Machine Learning and code to develop and train their own vision recognition system and explore how Machine Learning can be applied to art, music, games and digital assistants by making and programming AI projects.
Students will also explore similarities between AI and how our own minds by studying the effects of bias and categorization of data.

Video Game Design with Phaser
Start programming games like a professional with this course. Using the popular desktop and mobile gaming framework, PhaserJS, students will learn how to create a platformer game, a side-scroller game and mini-games.
Engaging their creativity and design thinking skills, they will create, customize and enhance their games by adding their own set of characters, environments, gravity and world physics.
Using Design Thinking methodology, students will gather feedback from classmates and iterate to improve their games.

Drawing Intensive
Ages 12 years+
This Drawing Intensive course is for anyone who wants to learn how to draw and develop confidence in drawing. No experience or prior skills are needed! This course draws heavily from the tools and strategies of Dr. Betty Edward’s New York Times best-selling book “Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain,” coupled with strategies from other master artists who draw from observation.
We will learn the 5 perceptual skills:
● Perception of Edges
● Perception of Space
● Perception of Angles and Proportions
● Perception of Lights and Shadows
● Perception of the Whole (integration of the above skills.)
Each session starts with a short presentation followed by step-by-step demonstration for each skill. Students will work on fun and engaging exercises designed to access and activate the right brain to learn how to draw and see differently. Students will go home with a portfolio of drawings and a self-portrait.
The skills are straightforward and they can be perfected with practice, just like any other skills. Progress can be dramatic!

Playgroup Camps
Our play-based learning approach allows our youngest students to develop their curiosity and build early skills in a safe, comfortable environment. Through the exploration of nursery rhymes and much loved stories, students will participate in a variety of hands-on activities to develop their fine motor and gross motor skills, cognitive and language development, and through our sensory activities they will have some messy fun!
Parents can choose from 2, 3, or 5 day options per week.
This camp is different every week, so students can join for 4 consecutive weeks!

Little Explorers
Let us take your children on a summer adventure where we will immerse ourselves in a world of stories, baking, art exploration and singing.
This programme is suitable for children who turn 2 years old from July 1st, but are not eligible to join Kindergarten Preparation.
Students enrol for 2 week blocks, either 3 or 5 day options per block. This camp is different every week, students can join for 8 consecutive weeks!

Kindergarten Preparation
This course is for students who will be starting K1 after the summer. Students will develop their independence and confidence in an ESF kindergarten environment, as they explore nursery rhymes and well-loved stories through a variety of hands-on learning experiences.
This camp is different every week, so students can join for up to 4 weeks!

5-Day Multisector Career Perspectives
This dynamic course is designed to empower students aged 12-14 to explore diverse career paths. Each day, students will focus on a specific in-demand industry with the guidance of a vetted industry expert who will be sharing their experiences and insights.

This course is for students who have an intermediate level of JavaScript programming and want to learn how blockchain systems work and why they are preferred to reduce online security risks. We will explore how blockchain technologies are changing the way we share information, make payments with crypto currencies and keep track of transactions via a digital ledger.
By the end of this course, students will build a simulated blockchain wallet system to store coins. This course emphasizes on both the front and back end of developing blockchain solutions.

First Steps in Coding
Gain an understanding of HTML, CSS and JavaScript and get a solid head start in website development!
Using real-world technology, students will create websites and web-based applications. They will build their own coding posters, trivia games and personalised websites.

Create Your Own Digital Pet!
Through Digital Pet, students will learn to program and visualise the cause and effects of the needs of their chosen animal.
Students will learn how to visualise this through inner.HTML, and to reflect the interactivity through JavaScript functions by using arithmetic operators. Students will be challenged to conduct extensive research on the needs and requirements of the chosen animal and incorporate their findings into their Digital Pet projects.

First Steps in Game Development
This course is the perfect introductory experience for learning digital skills in the world of gaming and programming.
Students will learn how to plan, design and develop their very first web based game using HTML, CSS and JavaScript. They will pick up valuable skills along the way such as planning, designing game assets and creating digital special effects.

First Steps in Python
In this introductory course for beginners, students will learn the basics of coding in Python. The course will focus on learning Python syntax, structure and parameters and then use the knowledge and skills to build two projects
Using the BSD Online learning platform, students will be guided through learning about Python basics like, variables, data types, conditional logic, math operators and loops. The first part of the course is designed to be self-guided with activities and practice with syntax and using the console. Then students will build a birth-date-to-now calculator and an encoder/decoder.
They will end the course with a tech portfolio of the projects they’ve created throughout the course, and will be able to use their new skills to move onto more complex projects in the future.

Game Development 101: Start Your Tech Journey as a Game Developer!

Mobile Game Developer

This course is designed for students who have had prior experience with HTML, CSS, andJavaScript. Using the BSD Online learning platform, students will build a total of five different games — a platformer, a trac game, a nonogram puzzle game, a battle game, and a jumping game.
Students will develop fundamental skills in programming, learn about game development and design, and explore how to add further customisations to their projects.They will end the course with a tech portfolio of the projects they’ve created, and will be able to use their new skills to move onto more complex projects in the future.

Code Your Own World with VR
From forests to Mars, students will bring their imaginations to life by coding their own virtual reality world.
Developed with HTML, JavaScript, and A-Frame, they will code and add their own customised textures, elements and interactions to complete their realistic simulated 3D environments.
Students will also be able to easily share their work with friends and families, as well as immerse themselves into their creations.

Video Game Design with Phaser
Start programming games like a professional with this course. Using the popular desktop and mobile gaming framework, PhaserJS, students will learn how to create a platformer game, a side-scroller game and mini-games.
Engaging their creativity and design thinking skills, they will create, customize and enhance their games by adding their own set of characters, environments, gravity and world physics.
Using Design Thinking methodology, students will gather feedback from classmates and iterate to improve their games.

Code the Future with Artificial Intelligence
From self-driving cars to entertainment recommendations, AI is a part of our future. There is no better time to start learning how AI works.
Students will use Machine Learning and code to develop and train their own vision recognition system and explore how Machine Learning can be applied to art, music, games and digital assistants by making and programming AI projects.
Students will also explore similarities between AI and how our own minds by studying the effects of bias and categorisation of data.
